Are your students learning about recycling, sustainability, mini beasts or worms? The Worm Shed's school incursions are informative, educational and highly interactive.

Our incursion program is suitable for kindergarten through to high school students, school holiday programs, and community groups such as Scouts, Cubs & Guides. The kids loves getting their hands dirty and they get to make and keep their own mini worm farm.

The Worm Shed has been providing incursions to WA schools for 30 years. Never fear, our incursion staff and presentations are, of course, up to date & relevant to our modern world!

What's included?

Each session lasts one hour. It includes an informative and entertaining presentation covering topics such as:

  • Worms (of course!)
  • The environment
  • Worms role in waste management
  • Recycling
  • Worm biology
  • Sustainability
  • Mini beasts
  • Gardening

Worms, worms, worms

We bring masses of wriggling worms for the students (and teachers!) to get up close & personal with, in the very popular "hands-in" activity.

Each student also gets to make their own mini worm farm to keep! Students can keep them in class for observation for 1 or 2 weeks, or take them home to show their families.

All the hard work is done!

We bring all the necessary equipment and materials needed to make the mini worm farms, you only need to supply a clear plastic bottle (ideally 1.25 to 2L) for each student, with the top cut off.

We also provide activity work sheets for ongoing class work, including a work sheet specific to the mini worm farms.
