A Bit About Us

Chittering Valley Worm Farm was established in 1986, although our interest in worms dates back to 1983.

The business is owned and operated by yours truly, Kevin and Debbie Smith and our four children.

The farm is located in Chittering, which is 80kms north of Perth in the Chittering Valley, Western Australia.
The distance from Perth has not affected our ability to provide products and services right throughout the
Perth Metropolitan area.

The farm itself is a self-sustainable eco-system, which demonstrates simple recycling methods using worms.

Initially, an interest in producing organic fertiliser for our citrus orchard, led Kevin to farming worms to
produce Castings (worm poo).

We then started selling Castings at the Sunday markets, from there a few nurseries became interested in our products.
Within 12 months we were supplying over 100 outlets across the state, including garden centres and hardware stores.
We no longer supply to the retailers as we now specialise in personalised service.

In 2000 the business expanded again when we were approached by Schools to educate students, it was then that 'The Worm Shed' was opened.

'The Worm Shed' caters for community groups, tourist buses, day-trippers and School Excursions, where visitors can see, touch and feel worms in action.
(Please note, that due to renovations & facility upgrades, the farm is not open for tours or Excursions.
           We apologise for any inconvenience.
We are available for School Incursions and we  provide free delivery throughout the Perth metro area
           for purchases.
Feel free to contact us if you would like information about worms or worm farms).
90% of our business comes from School Incursions, whereby Kevin takes his worms to the Schools and teaches students about
Waste Reduction, Waste Management, Sustainability and Recycling organic waste using worms.
The kids love getting their hands dirty and they get to make their own mini worm farm to keep.
